Short biography. Vincent Labatut graduated in Computer Science at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour (France) in 1998, and obtained a MSc. degree in Artificial Intelligence at the Université Paul-Sabatier Toulouse III (France) in 2000. He joined the INSERM (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) and completed his PhD in Artificial Intelligence in 2003, working on large-scale cerebral networks. In 2005, he was hired as an assistant professor by Galatasaray Üniversitesi in Istanbul (Turkey) where he turned to data mining and complex network analysis. In 2014, he moved to Avignon Université (France) as an associate professor. He now works in problems related to the extraction of complex networks from raw data (in particular text) and to their characterization, which includes designing centrality measures and partitioning methods. As a member of the Agorantic Research Federation, he works on various interdisciplinary problems, e.g. identifying the online activity of politicians, describing influence networks at the time of Carolus Magnus, studying biomimetic connections between certain urban structures and spider webs, detecting situations of corruption in public procurements. He obtained an Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) at Avignon Université in 2021.

Research topics. His current research topics include complex network analysis (centrality, community detection, signed networks, etc.), as well as information retrieval and natural language processing (especially in/on/for graphs).
