Raul de Lacerda is deputy dean of research of [CentraleSupélec](http://www.centralesupelec.fr/) in Gif-sur-Yvette. He was born in 1981 in Fortaleza/Ceára, Brazil. He entered the [Universidade Federal do Ceará](http://www.ufc.br/) ([UFC](http://www.ufc.br/)/Brazil) in 1999 where he received his [Electrical Engineering](http://www.dee.ufc.br/) degree (Dipl.Ing.) and his M.Sc. degree in [Teleinformatics Engineering](http://www.ppgeti.deti.ufc.br/) respectively in 2003 and 2005. He also holds a european MASTER 2 degree in Communication Systems from the [University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis](http://www.unsa.fr/) ([UNSA](http://www.unsa.fr/)/France) and a Ph.D. degree in Advanced Signal Processing for Wireless Communications from [Eurecom](http://www.eurecom.fr/) in collaboration with [UNSA](http://www.unsa.fr/) and [UFC](http://www.ufc.br/).
He is a former member of the brazilian [PET group](http://www.peteletrica.ufc.br/), which was a Special Training Program group of high rank undergraduate students funded by the [Brazilian Ministry of Education](http://www.mec.gov.br/) (SESu/[CAPES](http://www.capes.br/)/[MEC](http://www.mec.gov.br/)). From 2002 to 2005, he worked as research assistant for the [Wireless Telecommunications Research Group](http://www.gtel.ufc.br/) ([GTEL](http://www.gtel.ufc.br/)/[UFC](http://www.ufc.br/)) on projects under a technical cooperation between [UFC](http://www.ufc.br/) and [Ericsson Research](http://www.ericsson.com/) on the prospective wireless communication challenges for 4G and Beyond. In 2005, he spent 10 months as invited researcher at the [CNRS](http://www.cnrs.fr/) [I3S Laboratory](http://www.i3s.unsa.fr/) in Sophia-Antipolis/France working on tensorial decomposition techniques tools for wireless communication applications. During this period, he holded an European scholarship, called [Programme ALßAN](http://www.programalban.org/), that was specifically adressed to top ranked students from Latin America. From 2005 to 2008, he joined the mobile communication department of [Eurecom](http://www.eurecom.fr/) as research associate which was partially funded by the [PACA Region](http://www.regionpaca.fr/)/France and supported by France Télécom R&D. In 2008, he was appointed senior research fellow at the [Flexible Radio Chaire](http://www.flexible-radio.com/) at [Supélec](http://www.supelec.fr/) ([École Superiéure d’Électricité](http://www.supelec.fr/)) . Since September 2009, he holds an professor position at the Electromagnetism Department of [Supélec](http://www.supelec.fr/) (since 2015, [CentraleSupélec](http://www.centralesupelec.fr/)). His research interests lie in the domain of signal processing, wireless communications and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI), focusing on topics related to spectrum sharing, spectrum management and radio coexistence. He is was associate editor of [Wireless Network Journal](http://www.springer.com/engineering/signals/journal/11276) from 2010 until 2015 and the recipient of the [Valuetools 2007](http://www.valuetools.org/2007/) best student paper award and the [DASC 2010](http://dasconline.org/past/29/index.html) best session paper award.
