His researches are situated at the crossroads of the study of the interactions in urban context and the ethnic and social identities expression. They focus on different topics in France, Latin America and in the United States: suburban ethnography, informal commerce, the insertion of the young people in working environments, festive or patrimonial dimensions of the social identities, the relationship between the representations of the mestizaje and ethnic identifications, circulations and relocalizations of cultural practices.
These last years, his work completed in the town of Veracruz focused on the categorization and identification modes, which were send back to the African origin in contemporary urban Mexico. In his current research, his interest focused on the actors, the circuits and the challenges of the circulation of cultural practices between the Latin America, the United States and Europe.
