My unit's scientific project (**UREP**) mobilizes an integrative and predictive approach, taking into account the soil-plant-plant-atmosphere compartments, the exchanges/interactions between them, and the dynamics of each component and of the ecosystem as a whole. The approaches developed combine observation, experimentation and modelling.
My main mission is therefore to ensure and coordinate the development and monitoring of the unit's models, including :
- **PaSim**, a mechanistic biogeochemical model for simulating a managed grassland ecosystem, which is used to model C/N/H2O fluxes and which has become a recognized research tool around climate change issues.
- **FarmSim**, a daily scale farm model combining PaSim models for the prairie, CERES-EGC for the crop and a simple model based on IPCC Tier 3 for the building.
- **ModVege**, a simple model of the vegetation cover allowing to calculate the production from the latter, as well as the models i) CNSpat which integrates the management of dejecta (dandelions and dung) as one of the heterogeneity pilots and ii) PampaGraze which allows to model C4 plants as well as grazing. These two models derive from ModVege
In parallel to the development of these models, the VulClim platform is being developed to analyse the vulnerability of territories to climate change. The Vul'Clim platform is an "all-in-one" tool, independent of any simulation model, but which makes it possible to simplify its interfacing with available data (particularly climate data). It is designed to provide future users with generic methods and tools, such as downscaling and upscaling functions in order to carry out simulations at the desired granularity, or gap filling procedures to produce complete data sets through statistical analysis.
The computer languages used are JAVA, R, Fortran and C++.
**Keywords**: Modeling, software development, JAVA, PaSim, VulClim
