### Research interests : I carry out my research in the lab [CLLE UMR 5263, CNRS-UT2J](https://clle.univ-tlse2.fr/ "CLLE UMR 5263, CNRS-UT2J") My research domain is the study of the auditory categorization and skills. The hypothesis is that we organize our perception by categorisation to learn and to organise our sound world. This categorisation seems to be dynamic (it is not fixed by a training, but varies according to needs), cognitive driven, and the objective of action depends very directly on task, and of action goal. My studies concern three types of auditory stimuli: speech, music and environmental sounds. They are principally based on the theory of prototype and typicality, developed by Rosch (1976) and taken back in France by Dubois (1991). With objective to answer this hypothesis, I collaborate on some studies in several domains: - studies with non-deaf and deaf people, children and adults, with cochlear implant, to understand their perception of environmental sounds. - studies on various type of stimuli (music and soundscapes) to understand auditories skills to perform a task or to build our environmental world by auditory indices. - studies on the understanding (and the difference with intelligibility) of speech, and its applications in industrial domain. The experimentation using the prototype categorization theory require experimental paradigms ad hoc. It is for it that I develop since 2003 experimental [software TCL-LABX](https://mycore.core-cloud.net/index.php/s/EhMhbvgc4NSa9w5). ### Thématique de recherche : J'effectue ma recherche dans le laboratoire [CLLE UMR 5263, CNRS-UT2J](https://clle.univ-tlse2.fr/ "CLLE UMR 5263, CNRS-UT2J"). Mon domaine de recherche est l’étude de la catégorisation auditive. L’hypothèse globale est que nous procédons par catégorisation afin d’apprendre et organiser notre monde sonore. Cette catégorisation est dynamique (elle n’est pas figée par un apprentissage, mais varie en fonction des besoins), pilotée cognitivement, et dépend très directement de la tâche, c’est-à-dire de l’objectif de l’action. Mes travaux portent sur trois types de stimuli auditifs : parole, musique et bruit. Ils reposent essentiellement sur la théorie du prototype et de la typicalité, développée par Rosch (1976) et reprise en France par Dubois (1991). Avec l’objectif de répondre à cette hypothèse, je collabore à un certain nombre d'études dans plusieurs domaines: - des études auprès de participants adultes et enfants normo-entendants, adultes et enfants sourds implantés cochléaires afin de comprendre leur perception des sons de l'environnement. - des études sur divers type de stimuli (musique et paysages sonores) pour comprendre les compétences auditives misent en oeuvre pour accomplir une tâche ou pour construire notre perception du monde via des indices auditifs - des études sur la compréhension de la parole (et la différence avec l'intelligibilité) et ses applications dans le milieu industriel. L’expérimentation utilisant la théorie de la catégorisation prototypique passe par la mise au point de paradigmes expérimentaux ad hoc. C’est pour cela que je développe depuis 2003 le [logiciel expérimental TCL-LabX](https://mycore.core-cloud.net/index.php/s/EhMhbvgc4NSa9w5). La recherche en audition passe également par des infrastructures technologiques adaptées, c’est pourquoi j'utilise la plateforme "[Cognition, Comportement et Usages (CCU)](https://mshs.univ-toulouse.fr/spip.php?article991&lang=fr)" comportant un plateau en audition (cabine audiométrique).
