I am an economic sociologist, interested in human relationships, the networks they form, and their role in the coordination of economic action in markets, organisations, and especially digital platforms. I am Directrice de Recherche (the equivalent of a full professor, but with research rather than teaching focus) at CNRS, working at Laboratoire de Recherche en Informatique (LRI) on the Saclay campus just south of Paris. This is a major computer science centre and my mission is to build bridges with the social sciences to develop research around big data, the platform economy, and artificial intelligence.
I teach Sociology of social networks in a masters' programme at Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS), and Social and Economic Network Science at ENSAE. In Italy, I teach Research Design to 1st-year economics PhD students.
I am a member of the Associate Boards of the journals Sociology and Revue Française de Sociologie. I co-convene the Social Networks Analysis Group of British Sociological Association (BSA-SNAG).
Until December 2015, I was Reader (the equivalent of a tenured Associate Professor) at the University of Greenwich, London, where I directed the doctoral programme (PhD, MPhil and Master’s by Research) of the Faculty of Business, and I coordinated research within the department of international business and economics.
