  1. Research Interests:

Plasma and neutral fluid turbulence. Reduced models, fundamental turbulence studies. Zonal flows, coherent structures, pattern formation and selection, renormalization techniques in plasma physics, shell models and their application to plasma turbulence, momentum transport, intrinsic rotation and L-H transition in tokamaks, electron thermal transport, turbulence spreading and nonlocal turbulent transport in hot, magnetized plasmas.

  1. Teaching Experience :

  • Teaching assistantship, -problem sessions and grading- first year at UCSD.

  • Lecturer for a summer class on introductory Electricity and Magnetism (2004).

  • Taught a masters level class (in the program, M2R Physique Fondamentale, Spécialité Optique Matière et Plasmas) called “Turbulence et Applications” in 2011-2012 together with Eric Buchlin.

1Romain worked most of the time with his ex-supervisor Sebastien Galtier even though he was paid from my ANR project, which I welcomed because he was producing important physics results with Sebastian.

2Sumire was actually a postdoc of Fouad Sahraoui in Space Plasmas team, but because she had worked on fusion before, we wrote a number of papers together.
