Olivier PRINGAULT


Research interests

My main interest concerns the ecology of microorganisms in aquatic systems. I conduct projects aiming at understanding the interactions between microorganisms and their habitats in both natural and anthropogenically impacted systems. I’m particularly interested in the coupling between autotrophic and heterotrophic microorganisms and how this coupling can be affected by organic and inorganic contaminants and the consequences of this contamination on coastal carbon cycling. I have experience of working with a wide range of techniques (cultures, mesocosms, in situ) and situations (on ship, in the field, in the laboratory) and countries (Vietnam, New Caledonia, Fiji, USA, and across Europe), both alone and as part of a group, either as a simple participant or as the coordinator of the program.
