Mylene Ogliastro


I'm fascinated by viruses : their diversity, the mechanisms of infection, how they cross complex cellular barriers, how they evolve and switch hosts. To explore these questions, I'm focusing on insect viruses and more specifically on insect parvoviruses (so called densoviruses), looking at their interaction with their hosts at different levels, from molecules to populations.
At molecualr level, I'm particularly interested by the oral transmission of viruses, ie the more specifically by the mechanisms allowing (denso)viruses to cross the gut of their host. Viruses are wonderfull nanovehicles to explore complex cellular barriers.
At population level, I'm interested in virus ecology and evolution. We developed field sampling and viral metagenomics to understand virus diversity and viral dynamics in ecosystems and lab experimental evolution to understand how they switch host.
