Présentation
Michel Mitov is Director of Research at CNRS, National Center for Scientific Research, and Senior Investigator of the Liquid Crystals theme at the INPHYNI, the Institute of Physics in Nice (France).
His current interests are the design and the optical properties of complex cholesteric liquid crystal structures (pitch gradient, double helicity, spatially-variable helical axis), and biomimetic materials inspired from insect carapaces.
He is the inventor of patents related to smart reflective windows to control solar light and heat.
He has published an essay of science popularization on soft matter (Matière sensible, Seuil; Sensitive Matter, Harvard University Press), and a textbook on liquid crystal science (Les cristaux liquides, PUF, "Que Sais-Je ?").
