Assistant Professor, Elipse team - IRIT Lab, University of Toulouse

Marcos Serrano is assistant professor at the University of Toulouse and at the Toulouse Institute of Computer Science Research (IRIT), France. He took a PhD on “Input Multimodal Interaction : Design and Prototyping” under the supervision of Prof. Laurence Nigay at the Grenoble Informatics Laboratory (France). During his PhD, Marcos Serrano served as work-package leader in the European project OpenInterface and worked on different national research projects. Then, Marcos founded an interaction design agency in Paris and worked for several companies designing large public tactile interfaces. His work was exhibited in the Pompidou Center (Paris, France), the largest modern art museum in Europe. In 2011 Marcos carried out a first post-doctoral fellowship at Telecom ParisTech (Paris, France) with Prof. Eric Lecolinet and Yves Guiard. In 2012 he joined the HCI Lab at the University of Manitoba (Canada) to continue his post-doctoral research with Prof. Pourang Irani. Marcos’ research initially focused on the design of interactive systems and more specifically on the rapid prototyping of multimodal interfaces. More recently his research is dedicated to designing novel interaction techniques in the field of mobile and ubiquitous computing. His most recent projects cover interaction with head-mounted displays, mobile true-3D interfaces and public displays.  Marcos Serrano has served on the program committees of MobileHCI, Interaccion and IHM conferences.
