Marcin Trzmielewski

I'm a PhD student in Information, Communication and Documentation Science at the Paul Valéry University of Montpellier 3 in France. My researches and main interests include information activities of people in different health-related contexts and knowledge organization in medical domain(s). I'm currently working on ALLERGIDOC, my PhD thesis conducted through a partnership with the Allergy Unit of the University Hospital of Montpellier. The projet aims to develop an ontology to support work activities of professionals in this medical domain. Since 2018 I have also been working on the Integrative Levels Classification (ILC), a freely faceted interdisciplinary classification developped by an international team of researchers.

Currently, my teaching activity includes courses on: "Knowledge organization systems : typology, use, design, softwares", "Information-seeking in health" (bachelor in information-documentation) and "Document and digital library management systems" (master in information-documentation).

During my bachelor and master studies in Documentation (2016-2018), I worked as librarian at academic libraries in France and in Italy. I participated on the conception of a documentary catalogue for a learning center, of a Dewey Decimal Classification-based library browsing tool for academic libraries network,  and of a classification scheme based on the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) for a documentation center specialized in history of education.

I'm an active member of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO), of the French Association of Information and Documentation Professionals (ADBS), of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) Junior Members Group, and of Société Française des Sciences de l'Information et de la Communication (SFSIC). I'm also an associate member of Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health  (Montpellier, France).

I was awarded for the Best Paper Award at ISKO Conference in Porto (2018), and for the Junior Member Grant at the World Allergy Congress in Lyon (2019), and my PhD project was selected to be funded by the Occitanie Region (2019).
