My research is focused on understanding the interactions between marine microbes and their environment. These tiny creatures are embedded in moving volumes of seawater, which change in chemical and physical properties as they travel the ocean. These interactions occur across dynamic spatio-temporal scales and need to be studied with a transdisciplinary approach. I combine stable isotope, molecular biology and biogeochemistry methods to unveil how microbes shape oceanic biogeochemical cycling.
