Laurent ANDRE - Hydrogéochimiste


Dr Laurent ANDRE is currently working as a Research Engineer in geochemical modelling at BRGM (the French Geological Survey - Orléans – France) since 2006 and member of the ISTO team (UMR 7327). L. André analyses particularly the water-rock-gas interactions within shallow and deep reservoirs. A first post-doctoral position at IFPEn allows him working on the biodegradation of hydrocarbons in the unsaturated zone and he developed an experimental device to study the limiting factors of biodegradation. These tests underlines the major role played by gas transfers inside the porous media. During its second Post-doctoral position at the Centre of Hydrogeology (Neuchâtel, Switzerland), he developed a simulation code for coupled hydraulic, heat and geochemical processes in granitic reservoir at high temperature and pressure. He applied it to the EGS system of Soultz-sous-Forêts.

In BRGM, he pursues researches both in the field of biogeochemical modelling of multiphase shallow systems (methanisation, denitrification...) and in the field of geochemical modelling in deep geological media (CO2 sequestration in deep reservoirs, geothermal ressources...). He focuses on the impact of thermal, hydraulic and geochemical processes on near-well properties in relation to a mid to long-term injection of water or supercritical CO2. He is also working on the geochemical modelling of saline solutions with the determination of new interaction parameters for Pitzer’s database implementation.
