    Karunesh Kant is currently working as a postdoctoral research associate at Advanced Materials and Technologies Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg VA, USA. He obtained his B. Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering (2012) from Uttar Pradesh Technical University Lucknow and M. Tech from National Institute of Technology Srinagar in Mechanical System Design (2014). He obtained his doctorate in 2019 from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Jais Amethi (An Institute of National Importance Established under the Act of Parliament). He was awarded the prestigious Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy Fellowship (2017) by IUSSTF and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Government of India to undertake a part of his doctoral thesis work at the Advanced Materials and Technologies Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Virginia Tech, USA. After submitting his doctoral thesis in July 2018, he joined Energy Technology Group, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Netherlands, as a post-doc in Sep-2018, where he worked on thermochemical energy storage material for thermal energy storage. The work involved Multiphysics modeling of thermochemical material bed for enhanced heat and mass transport in the thermochemical reactor. He received a postdoctoral fellowship at University Clermont Auvergne (UCA), Clermont, France, in October 2020 to work on the mathematical modeling of nano-enhanced phase change materials for thermal energy storage. At the UCA he also worked on multi-3D particle tracking velocimetry for indoor airflow study in large enclosures. After completing his fellowship at UCA, he joined Advanced Materials and Technologies Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Virginia Tech, USA as a research associate in September-2021 and currently working on multiple projects funded by the US Department of Energy. At Virginia Tech, he worked on laminar drag reduction in microchannels using the liquid-infused textured surface, Waveguide Solar Concentrator to concentrate solar radiation for solar thermal applications, solar selective coatings with enhanced solar absorptance, thermochemical energy storage for building applications, and nanostructured glass surfaces to improve PV panel power production. 
    Karunesh Kant is an Early Career Editorial Board (ECEB) member of Elsevier’s e-Prime Journal and served as guest editor of the special issue “Thermal Energy Storage and Solar Thermal Systems” published in “Energies” Journal. He is a reviewer of the various international journals published by Elsevier, Wiley, ACS, Taylor & Francis, and MDPI. He published 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, 13 book chapters in internationally reputed books, and 7 conference papers and posters. His publications got more than 1500 citations, and 17 of them h indexed.
