Jeremy PRUVOST - Full Professor in Bioprocess Engineering at the University of Nantes


Jeremy PRUVOST obtained his PhD Thesis on photobioreactor engineering in 2000 at the University of Nantes (Laboratory GEPEA - UMR CNRS 6144). In September 2002, he was recruited as an Senior Lecturer at the University of Nantes in the GEPEA laboratory, with a scientific project devoted to bioprocess engineering for microalgae valorization. This project was awarded the same year by the Novatlante prize (General Council of Loire-Atlantique). The activity has strongly consolidated, and today includes forty people (26 Researchers) in a team he is leading (research team Applied Bioprocesses Microalgae). This team integrates the issues ranging from biology to microalgae valorization through culture and biorefining.

 

In September 2002, he was recruited as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Nantes in the GEPEA laboratory. In December 2005, Jeremy PRUVOST obtained the “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches” to be appointed Full Professor in September 2008. He is now attached to Polytech Nantes (Department of Process and Bioprocess Engineering).

 

Jeremy PRUVOST is Director of the AlgoSolis R&D core-facility (www.algosolis.com) since 2015 (6-10 people), and Director of the GEPEA Laboratory (www.gepea.fr) since 2018 (225 people).

 

Main area of expertise (January 2020):

J.PRUVOST is working in bioprocess engineering.  His main research activities are related to the valorization of microalgal biomass, through the development and optimization of processes for microalgal culture (photobioreactor engineering). He also participated in more than 20 other projects on microalgae.
