Jennifer Buyck is an associate professor at the [Institute of Urban Planning and Alpine Geography](https://www.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/fr/grandes-missions/universite/organisation/facultes-ecoles-instituts/institut-d-urbanisme-et-de-geographie-alpine-250333.kjsp) and director of the Master's Degree in [Urban Planning](http://formations.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/fr/catalogue/master-XB/sciences-humaines-et-sociales-SHS/master-urbanisme-et-amenagement-program-master-urbanisme-et-amenagement.html) and [Urban Design](http://designurbaingrenoble.wordpress.com/). Jennifer Buyck's work in France has centered on the emergence of new forms, practices and issues of nature in cities. This is how she questions the meaning of town planning or urban design. To her point of view, town planning can't be reduced to a strict instrumental and operational approach. That's why she includes in her research the logics of inhabitants, the processes of deployment for project intentions, architectural, urban, and environemental experiences as well as the complexity of methodological protocols. Jennifer Buyck received his master's degree in architecture in [Strasbourg](http://www.insa-strasbourg.fr/) and submitted her PHD in aesthetic in [Lille](http://www.lille.archi.fr/). But, she had international experiences too as she did some of her training in Rio de Janeiro, worked a year in Brussel and as invited to the [Louisiana State University](http://www.lsu.edu/). As project manager of a well known french landscape architecture office, she has contributed to the development of numerous projects such as the [international competition for the greater Paris](http://www.ateliergrandparis.fr/aigp/conseil/consultation2008.php) for instance. Nowadays, she is involved in various aspects of town planning. She leads some researches, participates to operational projects, works for the french Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, organizes public events about cities (radio shows, public screenings, ...) and has an elected member of both [local ](http://www.communaute-univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/fr/recherche/la-recherche-a-la-comm-uga/les-6-poles-de-recherche-de-la-communaute-universite-grenoble-alpes-639159.htm)and [national](http://www.cpcnu.fr/web/portail/accueil/-/asset_publisher/IqRbn1tS8UeH/article/id/58249?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cpcnu.fr%2Fweb%2Fportail%2Faccueil%3Fp_p_id%3D101_INSTANCE_IqRbn1tS8UeH%26p_p_lifecycle%3D0%26p_p_state%3Dnormal%26p_p_mode%3Dview%26p_p_col_id%3Dcolumn-2%26p_p_col_count%3D3) scientific authorities. **Main research projects :** European project [PLUREL Peri-urban Land Use RELationships](http://www.openspace.eca.ed.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Peri_Urbanisation_in_Europe_printversion.pdf) - Strategies and Sustainability Assessment Tools for urban-rural linkages (2007-2011), [D-TRANSECT](http://dtransect.jeb-project.net/) program where the analysis focused on wastelands along the Huveaune Valley (ITTECOP 2012-2014) and [PSDR4 FRUGAL](http://projetfrugal.fr/) in which we pray attention to relationships between urban forms and food governance (2015-2019). **Main teaching areas :** urban planning, urban design methods and experiments, project and theory of landscape & theory and practices of spatial representation.
