Jean-Marie Burkhardt est directeur de recherche à l'Univ. Gustave Eiffel au laboratoire de psychologie et d’ergonomie appliquées (LaPEA). Titulaire d’un master en ergonomie (1992) et d’un master en psychologie cognitive (1993), il obtient un doctorat en ergonomie cognitive de l'Université Paris 5 en 1997, et une habilitation à diriger les recherches (HDR) de l'Université Aix Marseille en 2010.

 

Il développe des recherches en ergonomie et psychologie sur deux axes :  d'une part des études sur les activités, les facteurs de risques et la prévention d'accidents dans le domaine des mobilités - en particulier dans le domaine des transports guidés- et, d'autre part, sur la conception-centrée utilité des technologies émergentes telles que la réalité virtuelle, augmentée et mixte.

 

Il a été co-éditeur invité des numéros spéciaux sur la qualité de la collaboration de la revue CoDesign: International Journal of CoCreation in Design and the Arts (2012) et du numéro spécial « Rail Human Factors » de la revue Cognition, Technology and Work (2021). Il est membre du comité de rédaction de la revue IATSS Research.
