Jean-Luc Schanen


Jean-Luc Schanen obtained his electrical engineering degree in 1990 from Grenoble Institute of Technology, Univ Grenoble Alpes (ENSIEG), and Ph.D degree in 1994 (Univ Grenoble Alpes). He became Assistant Professor at Univ Grenoble Alpes in 1995, joining the Electrical Engineering Laboratory of Genoble (G2ELab).

He is Professor at Grenoble-INP Univ Grenoble Alpes since 2003 and is leading the Power Electronics Research Group of G2ELab since 2015. His research activities are focused on Power Electronics Automatic Design Methodology, including ElectroMagnetic Compatibility aspects.

He was deputy director of Engineering School Ense3 (Energy Water, Environment, 1200 students) from 2008 to 2020. During this period, he has set up a new Master curriculum in Renewable Energy and an international speciality in Power Electronics, has been head of pedagogic affairs, has supervised the construction of a new building for Ense3 and G2ELab, and the moving of the school.

Jean-Luc Schanen has supervised more than 30 Ph.D students (6 current), among them 6 international co-supervision. He is IEEE Senior Member (2003), associate Editor for transactions on Power Electronics and Industry Application Societies, and involved in several conferences organisation, especially IEEE-ECCE (Technical Program co-Chair in 2018, lead TPC for 2021). He has issued more than 50 Journal papers and 200 conference papers, including invited talks or keynotes.
