Jacques Pothier teaches American literature and American Studies at the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin en Yvelines and Sciences Po St Germain-en-Laye, he is a member of the board of the doctoral school in Humanities and Social Sciences of Université Paris-Saclay.
His research is in Southern Studies, transfer studies and the "Global South". He has published on Southern Literature: William Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, Ellen Douglas, Cormac McCarthy..., including books on Faulkner and Flannery O'Connor. He is working on the scholarly translation of Faulkner's complete works for La Pléiade. He is a member of the European Southern Studies Forum of the EAAS and a former president of the French Association for American Studies.
He is a member of the advisory committee of the French nation-wide research network Institut des Amériques. <institutdesameriques.fr>
He is the acting president of the MICEFA <micefa.org>, a consortium of most of the universities of the Paris region, promoting cultural and scientific cooperation between France and Anglophone North America.
