Jacobo Grajales

Associate professor, University of Lille, CERAPS

I am an associate professor (MCF) at the University of Lille (France), where I teach comparative and international political sociology. As a member of the CERAPS (Center for European research on administration, politics and society), my research program is focused on the link between armed violence and the political economy of land. Drawing on field research in Africa and Latin America, I intend to assess the link between situations of post-conflict/peace-building, and new trends of land grabbing. This work extends some aspects of my PhD research, that was focused on the link between paramilitary groups and the state in Colombia. More broadly, I am interested in anthropological approaches of the state and globalization.
