Habibou Maitournam is Director of UME (Department of Mechanics) at ENSTA Paristech, and Director of l'IMSIA, UMR 9219, ENSTA Paristech, CNRS, CEA, EDF.
Habibou Maitournam is professor at ENSTA and Ecole Polytechnique.
He received his engineer diploma from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (Paris, 1985) and his PhD performed at LMS (Laboratoire de Mécanique des Solides) at Ecole Polytechnique. finally he received his "Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches" from Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris. Until the end of 2013, he was a researcher at the Laboratory of Solid Mechanics (LMS, Ecole Polytechnique) and Professor at Ecole Polytechnique. His research focuses on the modeling of the asymptotic behavior of inelastic structures under cyclic loadings, including stationary and direct cyclic methods, the thermomechanical behavior of materials and structures, the prediction of fatigue behavior of structures as well as the modeling of processes. In addition to academic recognition with distinctions, his work is widely used by the automotive and rail industries. He supervised or co-supervised more than twenty PhD theses, most of them founded par compagnies as PSA, SNCF, EDF, CETIM, CEA, ....
He received in 2009, Plumey award of Franch Science Academy. In 2011-2012, he was Clark B. Millikan Visiting Professor at California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
