Présentation

Since December 2022 Georgios Z. Papadopoulos serves as a (full) Professor at the IMT Atlatique (Technological University) in the campus of Rennes, France, and since July 2023 Georgios is head of the OCIF research team of IRISA laboratory. He received his Habilitation (HDR) degree from University of Rennes, France, in 2021, his PhD from University of Strasbourg, France, in 2015 with honors, his MSc in Telematics Engineering from University Charles III of Madrid, Spain, in 2012, and his BSc in Informatics from International Hellenic University, Greece, in 2011. Dr. Papadopoulos is co-author of more than 80 peer-reviewed publications in the area of computer communications, networks, and cybersecurity. He actively participates at the IETF standards organization with multiple RFCs and drafts in the RAW, ROLL, and DetNet Working Groups. He has been honoured to supervise 10 PhD students, and 5 Postdoctoral fellows. His research interests include Industrial IoT, Massive IoT (Interoperability, Compression & Fragmentation), Deterministic Networking (DetNet), Reliable and Available Wireless (RAW), Routing and MAC Protocols, Smart Metering and Grid Networks, Wireless Battery Management System (BMS) in Electric Vehicles, CyberSecurity, and Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) for 5G networks. He has been teaching courses at the IMT Atlantique since 2016 and has been invited to give several short-courses at other universities world-wide (e.g., University of Rennes, University of Buenos Aires, International Hellenic University) in the area of wireless networks, and Internet of Things. Georgios has been intensively investigating his time on preparing MOOCs. Indeed, his first MOOC, entitled “IoT Communications and Networks”, launched in September of 2022 in the Coursera platform. Dr. Papadopoulos has received the Best Young Researcher Award in France for 2022 in the field of computer networks and distributed systems (Prix du meilleur chercheur 2022 du GDR RSD dans la catégorie junior). He has received several grants for young researchers, including the prestigious French national grant ANR JCJC in 2017. Moreover, he has received the Best PhD Thesis Award (Prix de thèse 2016) granted by the University of Strasbourg, and he was a recipient of two Best Paper Awards (IFIP Med- Hoc-Net’14 and IEEE SENSORS’14). Last but not least, he received award and scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y.) for the performance of the academic year 2009-2010 during the BSc studies at International Hellenic University, Greece.
