Présentation

**Frédéric Lévy** (PhD, HDR) is a research director from INRAE, the French national institute for research in agriculture, nutrition and environment. Currently, he is deputy director of the UMR Physiologie de la reproduction et des Comportements, INRAE, CNRS, Université Tours, IFCE. He studies the physiological, sensorial and neurobiological factors inducing **maternal behavior in sheep**. He is also interested in studying maternal behavior in rat, dog and quail trough collaborations with French, Canadian and American colleagues. F. Lévy identifies hormonal factors (oxytocin), brain regions (preoptic area) and senses (olfaction) that are keys for triggering maternal behaviour. He also shows that the olfactory bulb and its neural plasticity are prominent for the recognition of the lamb odor that allows suckling. He published over 130 scientific articles in peered reviewed journals and supervised 3post-doctorants, 9 PhD students and 27 Master students. ###
