Frédéric Arenou

Senior research engineer for the french [CNRS](http://www.cnrs.fr "http://www.cnrs.fr") (National Center for Scientific Research), I am working since November 1983 at the [Paris Observatory](http://www.obspm.fr/obsparis.en.shtml "http://www.obspm.fr/obsparis.en.shtml"). Formerly, my work was related to the european astrometric satellite [Hipparcos](http://www.rssd.esa.int/hipparcos/ "http://www.rssd.esa.int/hipparcos/"), successively on its Input Catalogue, then data processing, and finally contributing to its science exploitation. I am now involved in the outcome of the [Gaia](http://www.rssd.esa.int/index.php?project=Gaia "http://www.rssd.esa.int/index.php?project=Gaia") satellite (launched in Dec. 2013) since 1998, and in particular in charge of the scientific validation of the Gaia catalogues. Ingénieur de recherche H.C. du [CNRS](http://www.cnrs.fr "http://www.cnrs.fr"), en poste à l'[Observatoire de Paris](http://www.obspm.fr "http://www.obspm.fr") depuis novembre 1983, j'ai commencé à travailler sur les aspects scientifiques du satellite astrométrique [Hipparcos](http://www.rssd.esa.int/hipparcos/ "http://www.rssd.esa.int/hipparcos/"), d'abord sur son Catalogue d'Entrée, ensuite le traitement des données obtenues, et finalement l'exploitation scientifique de ces données. Je suis depuis 1998 essentiellement investi dans la mission [Gaia](http://wwwhip.obspm.fr/gaia) (satellite astrométrique [lancé le 19 décembre 2013](http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/x18lyez)), en particulier le traitement des données des systèmes multiples, et responsable de la validation des catalogues successifs.
