> Throughout the course of evolution, numerous selective phenomena driven by various environmental pressures have resulted
in an incredible diversification of vertebrate organisms. This intricate process has given rise to a wide array of morphological
adaptations intricately linked to specific locomotor abilities.
> My research is motivated by the quest to uncover the intricate relationships between morphology (form) and locomotor capabilities (function).
> In this context, I have a particular fascination with the locomotor evolution of the human lineage, taking a broad
comparative approach that encompasses the evolution of primates, their various postural and locomotor modes, and most notably
bipedal walking, and the mechanical and energetic constraints associated with locomotion.
> In essence, my approach is integrative and unfolds on three distinct levels of analysis:
>
> 1) Examining the intrinsic features of locomotor systems, such as body inertia properties and the analysis of body proportions;
>
> 2) Delving into the biomechanics of motion, including 2D and 3D kinematics, spatio-temporal parameters of walking, and
physiological aspects such as muscle activity and motor control;
> 3) Investigating postural and locomotor behaviours exhibited during daily activities and their connection to the structural
demands of the environment, including substrates properties.
