My research topic is about how to anticipate and manage the vulnerability of a project due to its complexity, notably when the project is mainly subcontracted. This implies working on three main topics :
- Modelling Project Complexity (complexity theory, systems theory, graph theory, Dependency Structure Modelling).
- Analysis of the potential behaviour of the project system, in order to anticipate the possible propagation phenomena (and more generally the potential complex events) that may affect the project, and to assess its vulnerability.
- Decision-making in a complex context, consisting of clustering project elements in order to align them to the current complexity, and/or undertaking a combination of actions that may help to reduce the complexity or to manage it.
These three topics are consistent and are often run as a sequence in the industrial applications that support our research projects (Total, Renault, CEA, PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Alstom Transport).
