Présentation
Francesca Musiani, docteure en socio-économie de l’innovation de MINES ParisTech (2012), est chargée de recherche au CNRS depuis 2014, et directrice adjointe du [Centre Internet et Société du CNRS](https://cis.cnrs.fr) (UPR 2000) qu’elle a cofondé avec Mélanie Dulong de Rosnay en 2019. Elle est également chercheuse associée au [Centre de sociologie de l’innovation](http://www.csi.mines-paristech.fr/) (i3/MINES ParisTech) et Global Fellow auprès de l’[Internet Governance Lab](http://internetgovernancelab.org/) de l’American University à Washington, DC.
Depuis 2006, les travaux de Francesca portent sur la gouvernance de l’Internet, dans une perspective interdisciplinaire qui puise dans les sciences de l’information et de la communication, les science and technology studies (STS) et le droit international. Ses recherches récentes portent sur le développement et les usages des technologies de chiffrement dans les outils de messagerie (projet européen H2020 [NEXTLEAP](https://nextleap.eu/), 2016-2018), les « résistances numériques » à la surveillance et à la censure dans l’Internet russe (projet ANR [ResisTIC](http://www.agence-nationale-recherche.fr/Projet-ANR-17-CE26-0020), 2018-2021), et la gouvernance des archives du Web (projet ANR [Web90](https://web90.hypotheses.org/), 2014-2017 et projet CNRS Attentats-Recherche [ASAP](https://asap.hypotheses.org/), 2016). Ses travaux théoriques explorent les approches STS à la gouvernance d’Internet, avec une attention particulière aux controverses socio-techniques et à la gouvernance « par l’architecture » et « par l’infrastructure ».

Elle est rédactrice académique pour l’[Internet Policy Review](https://policyreview.info/), après avoir compté parmi ses auteurs pionniers, et membre du comité de rédaction de [RESET](https://journals.openedition.org/reset/), deux revues en accès libre « vert ».
Francesca a été le [Yahoo! Fellow in Residence](https://isd.georgetown.edu/yahoo-fellowship) à l’université de Georgetown et chercheuse associée au [Berkman Center for Internet and Society](https://cyber.harvard.edu/) de l’université de Harvard en 2012-2013 ; pendant ses études, elle a séjourné à la University of California at Santa Barbara et à la University for Peace, mandatée par les Nations Unies au Costa Rica.
Francesca est membre du [CSA lab](https://www.csa.fr/Informer/CSA-lab), et vice-présidente en charge de la recherche de l’[Internet Society France](https://www.isoc.fr/internet-society-france/a-la-une/), après avoir été membre de la [Commission de réflexion sur le droit et les libertés à l’âge du numérique](http://www2.assemblee-nationale.fr/14/autres-commissions/numerique) de l’Assemblée nationale (2014-2015). Elle co-préside depuis 2017 la section [Politiques de communication et technologies de l’IAMCR](http://iamcr.org/s-wg/section/cp-t) après en avoir coordonné le réseau jeunes chercheurs de 2012 à 2016.
Francesca enseigne la sociologie des controverses socio-techniques à des étudiants de médiation scientifique au [Centre de recherches interdisciplinaires](https://cri-paris.org/du/mediation-scientifique-innovante/) (CRI), et à des élèves ingénieurs à l’[École Mohammed VI Polytechnique-EMINES](https://www.emines-ingenieur.org/) au Maroc.
