Francesca Carbone

Scientific profile

I'm a Ph.D. in Linguistics [degree obtained at the University of Naples “L’Orientale” (Italy); Doctoral Thesis: “Perception of emotions by prosody and semantics in French. Cognitive mechanisms and physiological correlates (SCR)”; Supervisor: Alberto Manco].

My main research interests concern the study of the cognitive, physiological and linguistic constraints underlying the perception of emotional prosody. Specifically, I aim to better understand:

  • the interaction between emotional prosody and emotional words
  • the effects of emotional prosody and emotional words on physiological parameters (e.g., skin conductance)
  • the role of intonation in emotional expressions
