A dedicated physicist passionate for neurosciences


I have focused the last 15 years of my career on learning how best to implement computational methods in neurology and psychiatry. Having a background in Physics, a master's in Biomedical Sciences and a Ph.D. in Medical Pathophysiology, my research was a pioneer in Brazil on employing functional connectivity MRI in epilepsy. However, to pursue my ambitions of enhancing the understanding of the mind's complexity, I have been mining neuroimaging-informed phenotypes in many other diseases and syndromes. This topic guided my research basically in five institutions: 1. Unicamp (under the supervision of Professor Fernando Cendes); 2. MIT (under the supervision of Professor Suzanne Corkin); 3. UC-Berkeley (under the supervision of Professor Mark D'Esoposito); 4. USP (under the supervision of Professor Geraldo Bussato); and 5. CHU-Nimes (under the supervision of Professor Jean-Paul BeregiNowadays, I’m eager to comprehend why people kill themselves? I’m convinced that suicide is a distinct socio-neuropsychiatry disorder (i.e. not part of other pathological conditions) triggered by the psychological dimension of pain. Using cutting-edge neuroimaging approaches, I am eager to model this complex system.
