Présentation

Eric Lichtfouse, Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University, China, has initiated a new discipline, single sample molecular chronology, that uses molecular clocks to study the history of organic substances in complex environmental and biological samples. For that, he has invented carbon-13 dating, a method allowing to measure the relative age of organic molecules in complex media. Using this method, he has proved for the first time the occurrence of temporal pools of a single organic substance in the same environmental sample. He has published the book Scientific Writing for Impact Factors. He is founder and Chief Editor of Environmental Chemistry Letters, published by Springer Nature. He has founded the European Association of Chemistry and the Environment. After a PhD revealing the occurrence of novel fossil steroids at the University of Strasbourg, he has done research on organic matter, carbon and pollutants in soils, sediments, water, wastewater, plants, food and air in the USA, Germany, France and China. He got the Analytical Chemistry Prize by the French Chemical Society, the Grand Prize of the Universities of Nancy and Metz, a Journal Citation Award by the Essential Indicators, a Springer Nature Award for editorial excellence, and he is top 2% world scientist in Environmental Sciences. In sports, he is XTerra World Vice-Champion and ITU World Cross Triathlon Bronze Medal in his age category.
