Elyes NEFZAOUI


Elyes NEFZAOUI is an assistant professor at ESIEE Paris, the ICT engineering school of University Paris Est, in charge of the Energy graduate program of the school. He holds a master of science in mechanical engineering from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d’Aérotechnique (ENSMA), Poitiers, FRANCE (2009) and a PhD in Energetics from the University of Poitiers (2013).

Resrearch fields : energy conversion and management at different scales, the material scale, the device scale, and the building, district and urban scale.

At the nano and micro scale, he is interested in heat transfer phenomena modeling, both conductive and radiative, in order to design meta-materials with original thermal properties. Such materials can be very useful for heat conversion devices such as thermophotovoltaic (TPV) or thermo-electric (TE) converters. They can also be used in passive heat flow management, thermal rectifiers and radiative coolers for instance.

More recently, after joining ESIEE Paris, University Paris Est and ESYCOM lab in 2014, he focuses on Sensors, Microsystems engineering and instrumentation including thermal sensors: temperature, heat flux, flowrate as well as velocity and gas sensors. He uses meta-materials to design and fabricate on chip low power consumption transducers suitable for large scale sensor networks.

Dr. Elyes NEFZAOUI is also a member of the Institute for Energy Transition, Efficacity, the French R&D institute for urban energy transition where he is involved in energy demand management research projects at the urban level, including energy demand measurement, monitoring, data analysis and management.
