Thématique de recherche

Les recherches menées par l’équipe ‘Adaptation du Cerisier au Changement Climatique’ (A3C) que je dirige au sein de l’UMR BFP visent à comprendre les réponses adaptatives du cerisier au changement climatique. Elles portent sur l’analyse de caractères liés d’une part à la phénologie en lien avec le réchauffement climatique (besoins en froid pour lever la dormance des bourgeons, besoins en chaud nécessaires à leur débourrement, date de floraison) et, d’autre part, à la qualité du fruit et principalement à la tolérance à l’éclatement, caractère devenant primordiale compte-tenu des épisodes pluvieux de plus en plus fréquents au printemps. Les objectifs principaux de ces recherches visent à identifier 1) les critères phénotypiques les plus pertinents pour évaluer l’ensemble de ces caractères, 2) les déterminants génétiques et moléculaires impliqués dans la variation des caractères liés à la réponse du cerisier soumis à des contraintes environnementales, 3) les données génétiques, phénotypiques et climatiques et les mécanismes à prendre en compte pour prédire les étapes clés de la phénologie et permettre le choix d’idéotypes adaptés aux conditions climatiques futures. A terme, les résultats obtenus devraient permettre la mise en place une sélection assistée par marqueurs (SAM) pour favoriser le choix et la création de matériel végétal adapté aux nouvelles conditions climatiques et produisant des fruits de qualité. L’enjeu économique et sociétal de ces recherches est le maintien, voir l’expansion, de la production de cerisier dans les régions traditionnelles de culture du cerisier et la prospection de nouvelles régions qui deviendront propices à cette culture.
     En tant que généticienne, je m’intéresse plus particulièrement à l’étude du contrôle génétique des caractères étudiés, aux interactions gène-environnement (GxE) et au développement d’outils utilisables en SAM pour le programme de création variétale du cerisier mené par l’équipe. Ceci comprend la recherche de QTL à partir de descendances F1 et F2 dont l’une est implantée sur plusieurs sites en Europe pour les études GxE, l’identification d’associations marqueur/phénotype (GWAS) basée sur l’étude de la collection de ressource génétique INRAE cerisier et enfin, l’identification de gènes candidats.
    En parallèle à ces activités sur le cerisier, depuis 2017 et en partenariat avec le Ctifl, je m’investis dans l’étude approfondie de la collection de ressource génétique INRAE noyer, une des plus riches au monde, dans le but d’identifier l’architecture génétique de caractères d’intérêt agronomique pour ensuite mettre à disposition des outils nécessaires à un nouveau programme de création variétale. Les résultats obtenus sauvegardent et valorisent 30 années de recherches INRAE sur le noyer.
