Je suis géographe (Doctorat, Univ. Paris Cité, 2010) et dans mes recherches au sein de l'équipe Splott je décris le transport de marchandises de longue distance. Le nœud de mon récit est souvent un dysfonctionnement (crise, rupture, conflit social) qui survient la plupart du temps à la charnière (terminaux, ports) entre différents segments d'un même transport. Dans mes travaux j'utilise des données (ex. traces satellite des navires, expéditions de marchandises, trafics portuaires) mais celles-ci s'avèrent souvent insuffisantes pour apprécier la gravité des dysfonctionnements. C'est pourquoi je fais aussi du terrain auprès d'industriels (ex: vin, automobile) et d'acteurs du transport et la logistique. Leurs témoignages sont cruciaux pour comprendre l'impact sur leur activité, et en savoir plus sur les remèdes qu'ils adoptent.
I joined IFSTTAR in 2011 after three years teaching at the University Paris 7. Native of Galicia (Spain), I graduated with a BA from University of Nantes in 2002 and a Ph.D. from the University of Paris 7 in 2010. Apart from my work in academia, I have some operational experience in Public Policy: I was project manager at Datar (French Prime Minister's Delegation) in 2010-2011 and had been involved in the writing of a report for the parliament. As a transportation geographer, my particular areas of expertise include ports and maritime transport, global supply chains, and freight urban systems. At Ecole Superieure des Transports, I coordinate the Transportation Geography module. I have been invited Professor at Kwansei Gakuin University (Japan) during two semesters (2017 and 2019).
In the last years I have been involved in several research projects as coordinator or investigator. I have published my research in journals such as Journal of Transport Geography, Regional Studies or International Journal of Transport Economics. Currently I am working with my colleague Hidekazu Ito on a book called "The Globalization of Freight Transportation: Ports, Containers and Territories" which will be published by Routledge.
