AN EXCITING AND VARIED JOB

I am an expert in scientific computing at the LEGI laboratory after a thesis in fluid mechanics at the PPRIME institute and a first permanent position as a research engineer at the University of Lille as head of the computing division of the IT System Department.

In the LEGI laboratory, my activity is mainly "research", and concerns two main themes: sediment transport, and rotating machinery. I co-supervise several theses since 2016 (four theses defended, three in progress), I am the referent for the development and data analysis thema. I also use my skills in computer science to disseminate and enhance our codes and data and I participate in the transfer of knowledge either through oral communications, scientific articles or through vacations at the engineering school ENSE3-GINP.

A common feature of these activities is the use and development of the opensource toolkit OpenFOAM. In particular, I am the maintainer and software manager of the sedFoam solver, which will soon be integrated into the official OpenFoam distribution. More generally, I encourage and support the use and development of this tool, both within the laboratory and outside. In particular, I am a member of the Foam-U Board of Directors, and main animator of the regional network of OpenFOAM users.

I am the referent of the laboratory for all that concerns the development, the use and the optimisation of high performance computing codes (proprietary, community or in-house). I guide and support users according to their needs towards the appropriate solutions in terms of infrastructure : local (laboratory cluster), regional (GRICAD), national (GENCI), computing grids (EGIGrid5000), bigdata environements (Storm).

Finally, I encourage, train and sensitise PhD students, engineers and researchers to use Python for experimental data processing and for pre and post processing of numerical data.

In addition, I am very interested in environmental issues; in the past, I have instilled a dynamic around environmental aspects in the IT department of the University of Lille (setting up a cold corridor, encouraging mutualisation and rationalisation, etc.). Since my arrival at the LEGI laboratory, I have been an active member of the CNRS EcoInfo Service Group (GDS) and I am particularly interested in the ecodesign of digital services (software consumption in the usage phase, Life Cycle Analysis of a digital service...).
