**Christophe Humbert is an expert in nonlinear optical vibrational spectroscopy**. He obtained his PhD degree in 2003 from the University of Namur (Belgium) by pioneering **Two-Colour Sum-Frequency generation (SFG)** applied to the structural analysis of the vibrational and electronic properties of interfaces made of molecular monolayers adsorbed on metal surfaces. During a post-doc as a FNRS (Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique, Belgium) researcher at the French LURE synchrotron in Orsay (France), he successfully contributed to the temporal coupling of the CLIO Free-Electron Laser (FEL) with a table-top 2C-SFG setup at the picosecond scale within the working team of Dr. Abderrahame Tadjeddine. He was recruited as a [CNRS](https://www.cnrs.fr/en) (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France) researcher in 2006 for a permanent position at the **[Institut de Chimie Physique](https://www.icp.universite-paris-saclay.fr/en/institute-of-physical-chemistry/)** (Orsay, France). The unique worldwide 2C-SFG setup coupled to the CLIO FEL was exploited until 2017, giving rise to several experimental firsts in applications related to functionalized catalytic (gas–solid), electrochemical (liquid–solid) and metal (nanoparticles) or semiconductor (quantum dots) nanostructured **interfaces**. He became CNRS Research Director in 2020. He has been leading the [TEMiC (Electron Transfer in Condensed Phase) research group](https://www.icp.universite-paris-saclay.fr/temic/en/the-temic-group/) from 2017 at the Institut de Chimie Physique. The TEMiC group is specialized in chemistry under radiation ([ELYSE](https://www.icp.universite-paris-saclay.fr/en/facilities/elyse/) National Platform and [panoramic irradiator](https://www.icp.universite-paris-saclay.fr/en/facilities/technical-platforms/)) and photo-electro-catalysis for the synthesis, characterization and application of advanced nanomaterials exploited for green energy production and storage and water and soil depollution.
