BIOGRAPHY
Cécile Carra defended her doctoral thesis in Sociology in 1999 at the University of Franche-Comté; in the same year, she was hired as Assistant Professor at the Nord/Pas de Calais University Institute for the Training of Masters and she joined the CESDIP (Center for Sociological Studies on Law and Criminal Institutions, UMR 8183). In 2009 she defended an Accreditation to Direct Research at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin. In 2010, she was appointed University Professor in Sociology at the University of Artois.
There she developed new projects, both in teaching and in research, in the health care and social services sector. She has the pedagogical responsibility for two Masters programs, "Social, Aid and Personal Protection Frameworks" and "Health Frameworks" at the UFR EGASS (Economy Management Administration and Social Sciences), which she helped to found. As the Health and Society Project Director at the University of Artois, and in conjunction with the Senior Cluster borne by the Artois Chamber of Commerce and Industry, she is in charge of the Institute for Training and Research on the Silver Economy, the Senior University Cluster, founded in September 2015. It now brings together 7 university components and 8 laboratories.
She was the director of the laboratory for educational and training research, RECIFES (EA 4520) which she founded in 2010, and her transfer led her to join the Lille Economy Management laboratory in 2014 (LEM CNRS UMR 9221) within which she took on the responsibility for the Artois component. The research activities of Cécile Carra cover violence (in the educational, health care and social service sectors). The recognition of her scientific activities led to her becoming a prize-winner in two international scientific programs (USA, 2009; Finland, 2010) and to her appointment as a member of the Scientific and Orientation Committee of the Ministerial Delegation in charge of the prevention and fight against violence in schools (Ministry of National Education).
