CV Catherine DOGIMONT


I am a researcher and director of the Genetics and Breeding of Fruit and Vegetables unit.

I am trained as an agricultural engineer (Paris-Grignon 84) and in genetics and plant breeding. My research aims at understanding the molecular basis and evolutionary history of agronomic traits in melons, a vegetable species of the Cucurbitaceae family.

In the context of the agro-ecological transition of agriculture, my research focuses on two major agronomic traits, control of the production system and resistance to pests and diseases. The objectives are to

- to identify the genetic and molecular bases of these traits in melon

- explore the functional diversity of genes and study their evolution

- create new alleles or build new genetic systems.

My work is based jointly on the exploration of the natural diversity of melon and the diversity induced in a EMS mutagenized melon population. The molecular basis of the traits is elucidated by different approaches, gene and QTL mapping, positional cloning and functional characterisation, reverse genetics, including new sequencing and genome editing technologies.
