Environmental Economist, Associate professor of Economics at ESPI Paris, permanent researcher at Laboratory ESPI2R Research in Real Estate, Associate researcher at Paris-Saclay Applied Economics (PSAE) and Bordeaux School of Economics (BSE), post-doctoral researcher in Environmental Economics at INERIS and at the Environmental Capital Chair at the University of Limoges, PhD Economics from the University of Bordeaux.
Her areas of research are natural capital valuation and natural resources economics. Carmen Cantuarias worked at the French Ministry for an Ecological and Solidary Transition as policy officer in charge of economic instruments for biodiversity. Her research focuses on public policies of the Biodiversity Act: implementationof natural compensation sites, ecosystem services assessment and economic incentives for ecological offsetting.
Today, Carmen Cantuarias is enterprise chair coordinator at Groupe ESPI, member of the Scientific Council of the ITTECOP research programme, member of the Regional Real Estate Observatory for the Paris Region, ORIE.
She had taken part in national and European cost-benefit analysis projects for new technologies in the energy and water sectors. She is co-scientific leader of the SEMEUR project (2021-2024) on the evaluation of urban ecosystem services in the Lyon metropolitan area, and scientific coordinator of the CENTRAAL project (2023-2024) on the mapping of environmental conservation policies and transport infrastructure in Latin America.
