Anne Dunan-Page

Anne Dunan-Page is Professor of British History at Aix-Marseille University where she directed the research centre for the English-Speaking World (Laboratoire d'Etudes et de Recherche sur le Monde Anglophone, LERMA, from 2106 to 2021. She currently co-directs a research seminar on lived religion.

She's an honorary Fellow of the Institut Universitaire de France (2011-2016) and Vice-President of the National Council for Universities (Section 11).

She works mainly on religious history and culture, especially British Dissenting Churches and sects, as well as on the relationships between religion and medicine. She has also published on the huguenot refuge in Britain, John Bunyan, Roger L'Estrange, and on religious correspondence. In 2013, she founded the research network Dissenting Experience, with Michael Davies (Liverpool) and Joel Halcomb (UEA), which published the first inventory of dissenting Church records, An Inventory of Puritan and Dissenting Records.

She has recently completed a monograph on Church records in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries entitled, L'Experience puritaine. Vies et récits de dissidents (Editions du Cerf, 2017) and, with Michael Davies and Joel Halcomb, Church Life in Seventeenth-Century England: Pastors, Congregations, and the Experience of Dissent, (Oxford University Press 2019).

She is a member of the AHRC-funded team editing the complete works of Thomas Browne, under the general editorship of Claire Preston (Queen Mary University of London), for which she co-edits Browne's correspondence with Andrew Zurcher (Cambridge).

Anne is the founding editor of Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-Centuries Studies at Manchester University Press, an interdisciplinary series under the aegis of the Société d'Etudes Anglo-Américaines des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles.
