### **EDUCATION**
PhD in plasma Physics – Nancy’s University in 1984
Contribution of Eulerian codes to numerical plasma simulation: Application to the study of Bernstein-Greene-Kruskal structures.
Postdoctoral studies at the Institut de Recherches d'hydro-Québec, Varennes tokamak department, Quebec, Canada.
HDR, supported on 29 June 1993 and entitled: Contribution of Eulerian codes to numerical simulation in plasma physics,
application to the modelling of laser-plasma interactions and the Vlasov gyrokinetic equation.
### **BRIEF SYNOPSIS OF RESEARCH:**
The main working field is the theory and numerical simulation of kinetic phenomena in plasma physics
where kinetic effects are dominant, particularly in problems related to laser-matter interaction and inertial fusion,
turbulence in tokamak plasmas and magnetic fusion, space plasmas. There is a particular interest in kinetic plasmas
where self-coherent interactions between charged particles are treated by a mean field method and
where collective effects play a predominant role. This work integrates both theoretical methods
(notably reduction techniques in Hamiltonian formalism) and High Performance computing on IDRIS- GENCI computers in Paris.
### **SKILLS:**
Specific expertise and interests in:
Modeling and numerical simulation of the Vlasov-Maxwell system
Semi-Lagrangian Codes and High Performance Computing
Laser-plasma interaction and inertial fusion
Fast ignition and self-induced transparency
Relativistic Plasmas
Stimulated parametric instabilities (Raman, Brillouin, relativistic instability)
Gyrokinetic modeling of tokamak plasmas
Hamiltonian wave-particle interaction and systems
Turbulence in tokamak plasmas and anormal transport
These works have resulted in 85 articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
